A group of young people aged 12-17 from all round Scotland see the second phase of their mPOWER project get underway as they launch the innovative new Arts Academy this week.
Delivered by the macrobert in Stirling, mPOWER is a year long project working with 12-17 year olds who are either interested in getting involved with the arts or simply want the opportunity to be part of organising a new festival for Scotland.
The mPOWER Arts Academy programme is offering 50 places to young people who are keen and interested in not just performing but all the behind the scenes skills that make the creative industries in Scotland thrive.
Being part of the Arts Academy offers one2one professional support from a mentor who will be specially trained to assist you in your role as an mPOWER intern. Their professional skills and expertise will be suited to support the different internships on offer. Each mentor will work with two to four interns for a number of hours per month to provide support, guidance, encouragement and inspiration.
The young mPOWER team will have the full support of the new mPOWER project team at macrobert in Stirling, who are inviting all young people interested to get in touch now.
The project is offering an array of opportunities for young people to experience and gain practical `hands on` experience of festival planning and production - culminating with the festival itself in August 2010. The programme promises a veritable selection of the finest international and Scottish acts in arts, theatre, dance and music: all decided and delivered by the young people.
There are opportunities for:
- Drama Development
- Dance Development
- Music Theatre
- Technical and Stage Management
