Deadline: 6 February & 7 August 2009
The Highland 2007 Legacy Programme is providing an annual fund of £500k in grants to build upon the success of Highland 2007.
The programme aims to enhance and promote the events, festivals and cultural programme of the Highlands. Community organisations, promoters, artists, performers, youth groups and schools are encouraged to create their own legacy of Highland 2007 and to submit their applications to the fund.
Funding must be targeted at fostering new or enhanced cultural activity and not used to support the ongoing operational costs of an existing cultural organisation or event, or the ongoing salary of an artist.
Convener of The Highland Council, Sandy Park said: “Highland 2007 was unique to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland when event organisers across the region produced a truly diverse programme of over 600 events which showcased the culture of our region in all of its traditional and contemporary glory. From the outset of the planning process we were determind that the year long celebrations would pave the way for a long term legacy which would build upon the momentum generated by Highland 2007. The launch of this funding programme is further progress towards that aim and will provide a fantastic opportunity for us to enhance and to showcase the diverse and vibrant cultural programme the Highlands has to offer locals and visitors alike."
