Up Close: Glasgow - Playwriting Event

Whether you are an aspiring or emerging playwright, someone interested in seeing exciting new pieces of theatre, or keen to pick up a bargain from the Bookshop - there is something for everyone at Up Close: Glasgow.
All events are free, but places are limited and must be booked in advance. To book contact Claire Yspol on 0141 332 4403 or e-mail claireys@playwrightsstudio.co.uk clearly stating which activities you wish to attend.
Script Surgeries
This is your chance to discuss your work face-to-face and get professional feedback on one of your plays. To be considered for a surgery, please send an e-mail to claireys@playwrightsstudio.co.uk or write to us at the address below with a short synopsis of the play , a brief summary of your writing to date and two specific questions relating to your play. To be eligible you must be an unproduced writer living or born in Scotland; Have a first draft of a script completed; Must not be involved in a current Playwrights’ Studio mentoring scheme.
The deadline for entries is Tuesday, 3 February 2009. Once entries are received we will contact selected writers for their scripts.

Inspire Workshops
Led by Iain F Macleod, Chris Dolan and Tanika Gupta, these Free workshops will help you with your playwriting.
Introductory Session (11:30am) - guidance for aspiring playwrights and interested members of the public. No experience necessary. Led by Iain F Macleod.
Further skills (3:30pm) - for those with some experience of playwriting, or who have attended an Inspire session in the past. Led by Tanika Gupta.
Advanced Further Skills (1:30pm) - a writers survival guide which is intended for writers who have already made the commitment to pursuing writing as a career. Led by Chris Dolan.
BBC Scotland Radio Drama Workshops
Get an insight into radio drama with extracts from new plays and hot tips from radio producers. Workshops will be held at 11:30am and 1:30pm.
Evening Play Reading Event - 6pm
Live reading of new work will be presented as the culmination of Up Close: Glasgow
